Max Out The Epic 21 V For Wakesurfing

2012 Epic 21V

Epic Boats put a lot of thought into making its new Epic 21V a great wakesurfing boat. It all starts with a 3,200-pound, hard-tank ballast system that is second only to the Epic 23V among wakeboard boats. All that ballast means that no matter how few people you have in the Epic 21V you’re always going to have enough weight to create killer surf. Add to that Epic’s new surf tabs, which contribute extra water displacement, and a swim platform that’s specifically designed to keep your waves clean and you have the foundation for epic swells. We asked Epic Boats team rider Jeff Weatherall to show you how to build the ultimate wakesurfing wake behind the Epic 21V.

Where to weight

To surf the left, fill up the port ballast completely and fill up the front and starboard ballast halfway. Do the opposite to surf the right.

Go bigger

Opt for Epic’s new surf tabs and you can add the equivalent of 500-800 pounds of ballast by setting the port-side tab up and the starboard-side down for a left-side wave.

Finally, finetune

Set the integrated wake shape plate all the way up for maximum height or move it down by a quarter to add more length.
