2014 Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships Headed to Ft. Lauderdale
Mills Pond Park to Host Prestigious Event for First Time Ever Sept. 11 -14
Orlando, FL. — More than 200 of the planet’s best amateur and professional wakeboarders and wakeskaters will flock to Mills Pond Park in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. from Sept. 11- 14 for the 2014 Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships presented by Supra. The prestigious annual event attracts athletes from all corners of the globe including the U.S., Canada, Japan, Mexico and Australia.
Competitors, ranging from seven to 55 years old, earn an invitation to the prestigious event by qualifying at their respective countries’ national championships. The 2014 event is expected to feature some the sport’s biggest names including Supra Team riders Austin Hair, Taylor McCullough, Trevor Hansen, Reed Hansen, Brad Teunissen, Cory Teunissen and Bec Gange.
“We are thrilled to bring the 2014 Rockstar WWA Worlds to Mills Pond Park for the first time ever,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director. “South Florida is a hotbed for wakeboard talent; it’s going to be really exciting to have the sport’s best riders here competing for coveted World Titles and culminating with the Dinner of Champions overlooking the ocean at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort.”
At Worlds, athletes will launch huge airs and highly-technical tricks behind one of the industry’s top wakeboarding boats, the Supra SA550, the event’s official towboat. The 2014 competition will feature more than 20 division categories, separated by age, gender, sport and skill level. The event is highlighted by its top two categories — the Pro Men and Pro Women’s divisions.
The 2014 Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships also serves as the final stop on this season’s Wakeboard World Series and the King of Wake series. Online adult tickets are available for $7 (46% off the gate price). Gate prices are: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under).
