Malibu Patents Power Wedge

January 29, 2007

Malibu Boats has received a patent for its powered hydrofoil design, the Power Wedge. The Power Wedge, which was invented by Malibu’s chief engineer Danny Gasper in 2005, became the company’s most-requested option shortly after it was introduced during the 2006 model year.

“The Power Wedge is the best wakeboarding accessory to be introduced since the tower,” says Darin Shapiro. “I love the Power Wedge because of the control it gives me to shape the wake however I want. When I have students who want an adjusted wake at my camp, Ride the Spot, there is no problem. I don’t have to spend time filling and draining sacks or removing ballast. I only have to push a button and it’s done!”

The Power Wedge adds another dimension of versatility to a Malibu boat. This automatic hydrofoil can be set to almost any position between stowed and fully engaged for extreme customization. The variety of settings allows the driver to tailor each pull specifically for the athlete in tow.
