Not a bad couple of weeks for Jimmy LaRiche. First, he scores the first-ever cover of TransWorld WAKEBOARDING. Then he unveils his first-ever pro model — the new Hyperlite Franchise wakeboard — at Surf Expo. Designed by newly crowned Legend Greg Nelson, the Franchise features Hyperlite’s lightweight Bio 3 core, super-durable Enduro base, and a unique set of vertically running spines that are designed to not only soften landings but edge out of them more quickly as well. 2011 Hyperlite Franchise wakeboard sizes: 138 and 142

2011 Hyperlite Process wakeboard

Any wakeboard designed for World Wake Park champion Nick Davies must be made to shred cable parks constantly. That’s why Davies’ new pro model — the Hyperlite Process wakeboard — features Hyperlite’s rough-and-tumble Enduro base, which is designed to withstand the beating of hitting a cable park’s kickers and rails day after day. The Hyperlite Process also features a dual-stage channel, which gives you plenty of tracking if you decide to ditch the removable P-Wing fins to shred rails. 2011 Hyperlite Process wakeboard sizes: 137 and 141

2011 Hyperlite Murray wakeboard

Shaun Murray figured out a way to keep his 2011 Hyperlite Murray Bio wakeboard fresh all year, incorporating a Microsoft Tag into his pro model’s subtle new graphic. Scan that tag with your video-enabled mobile device, and you’ll be treated to a series of exclusive videos from Murray himself. Given Murray’s track record for great video performances, you’re sure to be entertained all year long. 2011 Hyperlite Murray wakeboard sizes: 137 and 142

Hyperlite decided to do something unique with the 2011 graphic for JD Webb’s pro model Hyperlite B-Side wakeboard. They reached out to Seattle-based design firm Morning Breath, which has produced designs for everyone from Barack Obama and Kanye West to the Foo Fighters and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. The firework-inspired design underlines the Hyperlite B-Side’s explosive three-stage rocker.2011 Hyperlite B-side wakeboard sizes: 136, 141 and 144

2011 Hyperlite System wakeboard binding

2011 Hyperlite System wakeboard binding

Probably the most revolutionary piece of wakeboarding gear on display at Surf Expo 2010, the new Hyperlite System binding splits the traditional wakeboard binding in two — with an external binding for support and stability and a separate boot designed for comfort, fit and range of motion. The System binding is compatible with three new boot models — Rusty Malinoski’s Marek boot, JD Webb’s Webb boot, and Shaun Murray’s Murray boot — and features a baseless board interface, highback support, adjustable ankle strap, and adjustable toecap design.

Since the new System binding supplies the stability and support of the traditionally built-in plate, Hyperlite designers were free to focus on giving the new Hyperlite Murray, Marek and Webb wakeboard boots the fit and performance of athletic footwear. The three new pro model wakeboard boots ultra-lightweight EVA-lite outsoles, shock-absorbing TPR impact gel inserts, and the customized fit of heat-moldable Ultralon liners.

Brian Grubb’s new pro model, the 2011 Hyperlite Catalyst Model G wakeskate was shaped by longtime Grubb and Scott Byerly collaborator Scott “Butch” Bouchard. The Model G features an internal weighting system designed for perfectly balanced tricks and an easy-to-catch wide overall profile. The composite wakeskate also features a grip-tape top and a blended three-stage rocker. 2011 Hyperlite Catalyst Model G wakeskate size: 42
