Team Malinoski Wins 2011 Nautique Wake Games Title

Fans lined the shores of the Orlando Watersports Complex today to catch the final rounds of action at the 2011 Nautique Wake Games, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. As the 10 remaining divisions wrapped up their competition on the water, Team Malinoski emerged as the winner of this year’s team challenge with 801 points.

Captained by pro rider Rusty Malinoski, the 10-person team claimed this year’s cash prize after finishing with multiple top-three finishes in various divisions, including wins by Kat Laird in the Veteran Women’s division and also by newly signed Rockstar Energy Drink team rider Daniel Powers in the Jr. Pro Men’s division. The team consisted of Malinoski, Powers, Laird, Shaun Murray, Scott Stewart, Danny Hampson, Megan Ethell, Will Green, Craig Buss and Dustin Abel.

Malinoski also came close to winning the Pro Men’s division today, too, but ultimately fell short to teenage Australian phenom Harley Clifford, who took home his second consecutive Pro Men’s division title. Malinoski and Bob Soven rounded out the top three, respectively.

Clifford also won the $1,000 prize in the Rockstar Energy Drink Double Up Contest, after landing a Melon Poke Heelside Frontside 900.

Newly signed Rockstar Energy Drink team rider and fellow Australian wakeboarder Amber Wing took first place in the Pro Women’s division, upsetting top-seeded Nicola Butler, who finished in third place. Young gun Meagan Ethell rounded out the top three podium spots, with her second-place finish.

In the Pro Wakeskate division, defending Wake Games shredder and newly signed Rockstar Energy Drink team rider Reed Hansen successfully defended his title today, with Danny Hampson and Brian Grubb rounded out the top three, respectively.
