**1. What makes the powerslide work is a hard edge out and quick change of direction back in toward the wake. Don’t just edge out and then spin the board; you might catch your heelside edge. Carve fast back in toward the wake to make the fins lose traction.

2. It helps to learn the backside sliding positions at slow speeds in the middle of the wake before you try a full-speed powerslide.
