MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour Cruises into Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink cruises into Colorado Springs, Colo., on June 10 & 11, for third stop of its five-city circuit. All the high-flying, rail-sliding water-sports action will take place on Prospect Lake at Memorial Park, where the sport’s top pros will compete for a cash purse and points toward the 2011 season standings for the coveted Pro Tour title.

Defending Pro Tour titlist Phillip Soven enters Colorado Springs as the top-seeded rider in the Pro Men’s division, after breaking a tie in points with Australian wakeboarding phenom Harley Clifford.Soven threw down a Switch Toeside 900, a Pete Rose 540 and a Whirly Dick to edge Clifford at the Fort Worth, Tex. stop by half a point.

With Clifford and Soven each taking a win at the first two contests of the season, both riders will look to pull out all the stops in Colorado Springs to take the lead in the standings.

|In addition the to the Pro Men, their counterpart, the Pro Women’s division will finally make their debut in Colorado Springs. Former wakeboard world champion Amber Wing enters the Pro Tour stop as the top-seeded rider after taking the win in Fort Worth.Wing paces the division at 290 points in the Queen of Wake standings, with Nicola Butler and Melissa Marquardt trailing close behind.|

While Wing is considered the frontrunner at the event, expect X Games gold medalist and Denver native Emily Copeland Durham to step up her riding to challenge the top seed for the win in her home state.

In the Jr. Pro Men’s division, 17-year-old Japanese standout Shota Tezuka remains at the top of the point standings, after taking first and second place, respectively, during the first two stops of the season. Tezuka has only been rivaled by 2010 Jr. Pro Tour runner-up Daniel Powers, who will look to capitalize on his recent win in Fort Worth.

The action in Colorado Springs will kick off Friday, June 10, with the free event running from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11 is a ticketed event beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the gate: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under); or $7 (adult) if purchased online.
