Moomba Mobius LS 2008

Wakeboard Boat Review

Yes, the Moomba Mobius LS is a direct-drive wakeboard boat. Yes, it’s just under $35,000. And yes, we were impressed at the kind of wakeboarding performance we got out of it at our test on Tennessee’s Lake Tellico. Fun to drive, stylish look and did we mention you can get it with key standard features for less than $35,000?

Hull: Designed with multisport capability in mind, the Moomba Mobius LS hull is a chameleon that can stoke riders with air in mind. Any skiers in the family can take it to the slalom course, too. The Moomba Mobius LS holds a line at speed and eats through rollers and double-ups well for a boat this size.

Ballast: With a 350-pound rear tank standard on the Moomba Mobius LS, we recommend adding the upgrade to the 400-pound front bag for a grand total of 750 pounds of weight. The boat’s overall load capacity is 1,800, so load it up as you need to.

Tower: The standard Rad-A-Cage tower that comes on the Moomba Mobius LS has a basic style, but with 2.375-inch tubing, it’s strong and sturdy. And it’s a classic visual complement to the model’s aggressive lines.

Wake shaper: The optional hydraulic wake plate allows the wake to be fine-tuned for size, shape and transition. At the half setting, we found it offered mellow wakes, good for beginner wakeboarders, with the ability to adjust further for more advanced riding.

Highlight feature: Interior color. Our Moomba Mobius LS test boat was drenched in red from the exterior throughout the interior. It made for a super rich, super stylish feel on a budget-minded wakeboard boat.

The wake: Beginner wakeboarders will enjoy the user-friendly wakes behind the Moomba Mobius LS. They’re an ideal width for new wakeboarders. For intermediate Moomba Mobius LS testing themselves in the air, landing areas are a good size. And for more discerning advanced wakeboarders, the full factory ballast system will boost the wake size as much as possible.
