Wakeboard Boat Review
One look at Calabria’s Pro V and it’s pretty clear what makes this V-drive tick. But this wakeboard boat has more to offer than just superficial wakeboarding attitude. It doesn’t just feature a standard tower, ballast system and main lounge, but a true stainless-steel tower (not aluminum made to look like stainless steel), the PureVert ballast system (which Calabria touts as the fastest filling/draining ballast tanks in the industry) and a full wraparound lounge (providing roomy comfort for 15 passengers). So for wakeboarders or families looking to indulge their needs and passions, the Cal Air Pro V has it all–and more.
Performance Analysis
Calabria’s PureVert Wake System has always been one of our favorite wakeboard toys. Built into the liner, the tanks are designed not only for safety, balancing the weight for even distribution across the hull, but also for convenience. Because they work without pumps, Calabria says, they fill in less than a minute and empty in 15 seconds. And considering that once full they churn up rampy wakes with excellent transitions and landing zones, you’ll appreciate the quick fill time. Out of the box, the ballast will satisfy families with beginners or intermediate riders, but advanced wakeboarders will want additional weight.
Another benefit of the PureVert Wake System is that it keeps the wakeboard boat running level. With the ballast weight spread evenly and the 55-gallon gas tank positioned forward, the Calabria Pro V experiences minimal bow rise for a safer ride and more controllable handling.
