The 2016 Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship presented by GM Marine Engine Technology officially kicked off today with Masters Women Skim behind the Ri237 at Mills Pond in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The world’s best wake surf athletes took the water with perfect conditions this morning.

A GM Marine Engine Technology by PCM powered Ri237 pulled Women Masters Skim followed by Women & Men Outlaw Skim. In the Semi-Finals of Women Outlaw Skim Ksenia Naumova and Julie Vasselin will move on to Finals out of Heat 1, while Frankie Jost and Samantha Cline will advance out of Heat 2. On the Men’s side, Jacob Caster and Jarrett Scribner out of Heat 1 and Drew Dennan and Max Smetts out of Heat 2 will advance to Finals.

In the Outlaw Men Surf Semi-Final Jake Breedlove and Andrew Stebbins advance out of Heat 1, joining Pete Lange and Jacob Caster in the Finals. Trisha Giguere, Korinn Woodard, Gabrielle Hockey, and Nadezda Illinich will advance to Finals in Outlaw Women Surf.

With thunderstorms looming around the site, Pro Women Skim went off without a hitch. Taylor Dorey took 1st in Quarter Finals sticking her first ever 3-Shuv in a competition. Joining her in Semi-Finals will be Caroline Villeneuve, Brittney Nyrose, Stacia Bank, Jodi Grassman, and Taylor Beaver.

Paul Singer, Centurion & Supreme Boats President, said, “The list of personal bests behind the Centurion Ri237 just keep getting longer and longer today. I can’t describe how exciting that was. To see professional athletes like Taylor Dory and Caroline Villeneuve accomplish moves during their runs they have never achieved before in competition, was amazing. I can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow.”

Taking the top spot in Pro Men’s Skim Quarter Finals was Noah Flegel, advancing to Semi-Finals followed by John Akerman, Aaron Witherall, Keenan Flegel, Cole Sorenson, Grant Witherall, Drew Danielo, Hunter Sims, and Casey Currin.

The Ri237 wave stayed true to its dominant performance getting the following Pro Women Surf riders into Semi-Finals: current World Champion Ashley Kidd, Jordan Wolfe, Allison Sos, Anne Prochaska, Madi Horta, Raleigh Hager, Emily Agate, and Stacia Bank.

As the sun set into the Western horizon, the Pro Men’s Surf Quarter Finals resulted in only seven riders qualifying for Semi-Finals. In the lead was Keenan Flegel, followed by his Noah Flegel, Parker Payne, Aaron Witherell, Chris Wolter, Zane Montgomery, Hunter Clement, and James Walker.
