Progressive Riding Highlights Day One of ****MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour in Ft. Worth
Ft. Worth, Tx. – The world’s best wakeboarders converged on the private lake at Texas MasterCraft today to kick off the second stop on the 2012 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. Treating fans to a full day of world class shredding, the sport’s best athletes put on a high-flying demo behind the new XStar boat with highly-competitive heats throughout the day.
Fresh off a win in Georgia during the first stop of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, Harley Clifford again looks to be the guy to beat in Texas. Laying down an impressive run that coupled huge aerials with highly-technical rail maneuvers, Clifford posted a heat-winning 76.67 score and will advance to tomorrow’s elimination rounds. Phillip Soven and Rusty Malinoski will also be favorites during day two in Ft. Worth after putting up heat winning scores of 71.67 and 75.00 respectively.
“We saw great riding from all three divisions today here at Texas MasterCraft,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director. “Once again the riders are excelling behind the new XStar and tomorrow’s elimination rounds should provide plenty of drama with the riders vying for crucial points in the season standings.”
The Pro Women also went off with three stacked heats that provided a wealth of highlights for spectators lining the shores of the lake. In a highly contested heat with MasterCraft Pro Tour stop one winner, Nicola Butler, Amber Wing posted the Women’s high score of the day with a 70.00. Both riders will advance to tomorrow’s finals to face off against today’s other four female qualifiers.
The MasterCraft Junior Pro Tour also held competition today. Continuing his recent assault on the Overton’s Junior Pro Series, Mike Dowdy posted another huge score winning his heat with a division-best 98.50 ride. Dowdy will look to win his second consecutive Pro Tour contest when the Junior Pro Men resume with elimination rounds tomorrow.
Thousands of spectators are expected to flock to Texas MasterCraft tomorrow to watch the final day elimination rounds and awards ceremony. Following the final rounds of competition, fans can stay and witness the jaw-dropping Sony Big Air Contest. The event will feature top athletes performing exciting and innovative new tricks that aren’t typically attempted in a traditional contest setting.
In addition to all the on water action; on land, fans will enjoy plenty of great food; athlete autograph signings; chances to win freebies; product sampling, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions. At the Pro Tour’s entertainment stage, guests can catch athlete interviews, color commentators and interactive live music.
Saturday will be a ticketed event beginning at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at the gate: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under); or $7 (adult) if purchased online.
