Billabong is proud to announce Shawn Watson as the newest addition to the Billabong wake team. Watson, 21, is already a two-time WWA National Wakeboarding Champion, winning in 2000 and again in 2002, and continues to push his limits on the water. As a Florida native who currently resides in Orlando, he is known for his free flowing style and is able to throw down difficult moves with solid grabs and clean landings. He is also an exceptionally good spinner and was the first pro to land a 900 in a contest. “Shawn is one of the most respected wakeboarders in the world and we are honored to have him on our team,” said Graham Stapelberg, Vice President of Marketing for Billabong. “His energy and talent in the water will definitely add to Billabong’s solid wake team.” Watson will be in good company at Billabong with fellow team riders and competitors Brian Grubb, Danny Harf, Erik Ruck, and Chad Sharpe. “I’m so stoked to finally be a part of Billabong,” said Watson. “It’s definitely a move that I’ve been waiting to do for awhile and I really feel at home now.” Watson won the first two of five stops on the 2003 Wakeboard Tour and finished third in Wake Boarding Magazine’s Readers Poll. He has also received editorial coverage in all the wake magazines and has numerous parts in a variety of wake videos including, Project Watson, My Side, Incomplete, Boom Box, Beg Borrow and Steal, to name just a few.
