**Pumping the wake (de-weighting)
**1. You can save a lot of energy when cutting out by pumping the wake. Every time you edge out, start by going up the wake first and then pumping down and out to give you a burst of speed. That way you won’t have to work so hard to edge out.
2. When pumping the wake, try to use your upper body. Throw weight down when you are going down and out, and weight up when you’re going in into and up the wake.
