Behind The Scenes: Centurion Boats 2012 Media Shoot

Bill Doster

Centurion Boats hosted its 2012 photo and video shoot at the BlueWater Resort and Casino in Parker, Arizona, on May 23-26 and TransWorld WAKEBOARDING was there to capture all the action. The first-time event was a truly massive affair with Centurion’s entire 2012 lineup on display and almost 50 Centurion team riders and staffers, models, and TransWorld WAKEBOARDING photographers, filmers and editors.

The event served as a preview of Centurion’s 2011 World Wake Surfing Championship, which will be held Sept. 23-24 at the BlueWater on the Colorado River. For starters, we got a first look at the brand-new Centurion Enzo SV 244, the new official towboat of the 2011 World Wake Surfing Championship. In addition to its world-class wake, the new Enzo SV 244 has an absolutely massive main cabin. Centurion engineers stretched the lounge by more than a foot and decked it out with so much comfort and luxury that’s its not only the largest Centurion interior ever but the most polished too.

We also got a sneak peek at three Centurion team riders who are favored to win the 2011 World Wake Surfing Championship. Five-time champ Drew Danielo is the best wakesurfer in the world and he showed it every day on the Colorado. Bri Chmel was only able to attend two days of the shoot because of school, but she showed why she’s a three-time womens World Wake Surfing champion. We also got to check out 15-year-old Keenan Flegel, who is the defending mens skim-style champ and it’s safe to say the future of wakesurfing. In addition to those world champs, we also got to watch Centurion wakesurfers James Harold and Josh Mulcoy as well as the crew from Inland Surfer shred behind Centurion’s latest crop of wakesurf boats.

In addition to the Enzo SV 244, we also got a first look at two other brand-new members of Centurion’s flagship Enzo line — the Enzo SV 211 and the Enzo SV 233. At 20’ 8”, the Centurion Enzo SV 211 is the new undisputed wakeboarding boat of the Centurion line. We suspect it’s also the new boat of choice for Centurion team rider Ricky Gonzalez, who was pumped on his first rides behind the new 211. The new Centurion Enzo SV 233 is built off the same hull as the proven Enzo SV 230, so it offers the same great wakeboarding and wakesurfing performance. But the Enzo SV 230 sports an entirely new top deck with the same super-stretched main cabin and luxury appointments as the Enzo SV 244.

All in all, the first-ever event was a massive success and you can expect to see a ton more from Centurion Boats in 2011 and 2012.
