Motive Boardwear Heads Beach Cleanup

Motive Boardwear takes action in the fight against beach pollution with its first ever organized beach clean-up at New Smyrna Beach this Friday, July 17, 2009.

The event, running from 8:45 a.m. to 12 noon, will begin with a quick gathering in the large parking lot located on historic Flagler Avenue, and then will move onto the beach and head slowly northward towards the Inlet. In addition to cleaning, Motive Boardwear staff will be shelling out free stickers, and one lucky person will receive one of our 100% organic tees.

“We’ve already received some great responses on our social networking sites, and we look forward to having a great crowd out there,” says Jessica Kelley, E-Commerce Marketing Manager for Motive Boardwear.

The celebration of this past year’s International Surfing Day (ISD) sparked the brand’s early motivation for continuing the involvement in cleaning up local beaches; however, Motive Boardwear staff believes there are more environments that need to be included. The brand’s newest call to action includes not only beaches and oceans, but also lakes and rivers.

“We were thrilled and inspired with the response ISD received,” says Joe Kolacki, Motive Boardwear Marketing and Team Manager, “and though it was centered around the un-official, official surfers’ holiday, we believe any day, holiday or not, should be a great day to celebrate everything Mother Earth has given us by taking back everything we have left behind.”

Friday’s clean-up effort will be the first of a series of monthly clean-ups planned across the state of Florida, and will be just one tier of the Motive Boardwear’s environmentally-focused campaign, “Project Green,” expected to launch sometime this fall.
