Ski Supreme V220 2008

Wakeboard Boat Review

Since most of our test crew is based in Orlando, sometimes we don’t get a chance to see many of the West Coast-based wakeboard boat brands. With one of our test sites in California this year, we got to check in with Ski Supreme and check out this ’08 Ski Supreme V220. It has the classic dimensions of a nimble direct-drive but with the V-drive that we all love — on either coast.

Hull: The deep-V entry of the Ski Supreme V220 really keeps this boat straight as it shoots through rougher waters and rollers. We also like the deep interior of the Ski Supreme V220, which not only makes this wakeboard boat roomier but works with the mellower tapered running surface to make the ride nice and smooth.

Ballast: This wakeboard boat's ballast consists of two rear tanks, each 360 pounds, for a total of 720 pounds of weight. There's a bow bag that adds another 425 pounds, making for a tally of more than 1,100 pounds — an impressive number for a 21-footer with a 7-foot 6-inch beam.

Tower: We tested this wakeboard boat with the optional Godzilla wakeboard tower. With 2.375-inch tubing, it's pretty sturdy and is reinforced at the bottom to add even more stability. We think it goes without saying: If you're a rider, you need to get the tower. The Sky option package will outfit this boat right.

Wake shaper:With the upgraded Switchblade wake shaper, you can adjust the foil on the fly to displace water and tweak the wake shape.

Highlight feature: We like how Ski Supreme has kept the space of the interior lounge as open as possible in a boat with a 7-foot-6 beam. There's room to stretch out, while still preserving maneuverability for the driver.

The wake: Beginners or intermediate wakeboarders should have a great time behind the Ski Supreme V220 with this size wake. The fairly steep wakes are a little far apart, so they take some getting used to. More weight will help increase the size and ramps to clear wake-to-wake moves.
