Pleasant Prairie, WI. – More than 200 of the world’s top wakeboarders and wakeskaters converged on Prairie Springs Park today for one of the sport’s most prestigious competitions: the Rockstar WWA World Championships presented by Supra. With global bragging rights and world titles at stake, fans were treated to a progressive display of wake riding during day one of the four day event.

Utilizing the super charged engine of Supra’s SA 550, the official towboat of World’s, riders in 10 different divisions kicked off competition against a global field of the sport’s elite. Among the most competitive divisions during opening day at World’s was the Junior Men. The highly-competitive heats were highlighted by the performance of Cory Teunissen, who showcased a well-rounded arsenal of aerials and technical rail maneuvers to post a heat-high score of 90.00.

“World’s is always such an amazing event with the sport’s top talent coming in to represent their country,” said Chris Bischoff, competition director. “Pleasant Prairie is a great venue for an event of this magnitude and the fans are in for a treat with the talent on hand this year.”

Fans were also privy to some excellent riding from the women today too. The Junior Women division commenced their battle for a world title with a paramount performance from Larisa Morales, who posted a division-high score of 75.00 to claim the position as favorite for tomorrow’s finals.

The Rockstar WWA World Championships presented by Supra will continue through Sunday, Aug. 19 Tomorrow’s free event will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will remain a ticketed event. Tickets are available at the gate: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under); or $7 (adult) if purchased online.

Following Sunday’s finals fans can enjoy the Sony Big Air Contest. Featuring the top Pro Men riders, the athletes perform massive tricks that are rarely attempted in a traditional contest setting.
