Dubai, UAE – The ten best wakeboarders in the world will compete during the adrenaline-fueled Oakley Riot at the Sea Dubai Festival on November 19, 2010. Last year’s winner Aaron Rathy will be the chief judge as Harley Clifford, Shane Bonifay, Rusty Malinoski, JD Webb, Shawn Watson, Parks Bonifay, Bob Soven, Nick Davies, Andrew Adkison and Philip Soven go head-to-head on the water at Dubai’s Atlantis Hotel.
“2010 has been a great year for me personally, and really looking forward to the Oakley Riot in Dubai this month,” said Oakley-sponsored Harley Clifford. “The guys going to the Oakley Riot are the best in the world, and being a double-up comp, anyone of these guys can pull off a winning run, so I’m just looking forward to staying relaxed, performing on the day and having fun.”
The Oakley Riot is the richest cash-pot event in the wakeboarding calendar and is part of the Sea Dubai Festival held every year in Dubai. The amateur event will start at 8am, followed by the pro double-up contest at 12noon. “The caliber of riders attending the Riot is amazing like last year,” said Emma Jones, Liquid Force and Hyperlite brand manager. “Nasimi Beach is the best wakeboarding location I have ever seen; the sheltered water conditions are going to be ideal.”
Another benefit of the event is its impact on the local riding scene. The next generation of local amateurs will participate in the morning competition before the pros take to the water in the afternoon. “Oakley is proud to be organizing the Riot again this year,” says Andrew Whiteman, Oakley Brand Manager for the region, “It is building as an important event in the professional calendar while also supporting the local amateurs that love the sport.” Immediately following the Oakley Riot, Nasimi Beach will host a beach party that will start at 6pm until late. The Oakley Riot award presentation will be at 9pm.
The Oakley Riot could not happen without the close support from partners: Sea Dubai Festival, Liquid Force, Hyperlite, Nasimi Beach, 104.4 Virgin Radio Dubai, Renault, Infusion TV and Epic boats. More about Oakley and Oakley’s Wakeboarding Athletes.
