After more than two years in the making, BFY Productions will release its latest feature film titled DEFY on June 17, 2011, at a world premiere in Seattle, Washington. DEFY is a highly-anticipated film about a wakeboarding journey starring four-time X Games champion Danny Harf and his crew of progressive pro riders.
Harf has done it all as a wakeboarder and he’s known as the only rider to land a 1260-degree spin, but DEFY will be his first effort as a film producer, sharing responsibilities with elite director Sean Kilgus. The pair have a solid track record, winning Best Video Performance at TransWorld WAKEBOARDING‘s 2008 Wake Awards for Harf’s section in DRIVE. Harf also repeated in 2009 for his section in Billabong’s Out Of The Pond. This time, Harf’s goal is to inspire all wakeboarders to defy.
“I want people to realize how much there is left to be done on a wakeboard,” Harf said. “This film is about our shared desire and motivation to push boundaries. In today’s world, that comes with a lot of risk and creativity, which will make the film interesting and fun to watch.”
Viewers will be blown away by top-secret footage, including Radar Lake experiments, kicker creativity and double-up madness. Monster Energy Drink also helped Danny build a crazy rail structure that the entire Monster team has been slaying at The Projects on the Sesitec System 2.0. The Monster crew is currently in Australia to push more boundaries, focusing on high-end riding and tow-ins to all kinds of different waves. Fans are encouraged to follow the crew behind the scenes by clicking on the “like” button at facebook.com/defymovie.
DEFY‘s world premiere will be held at Seattle’s Showbox SoDo on June 17. Shorty after, DEFY will be available on DVD and for download at iTunes. Stay tuned to wakeboardingmag.com for a new teaser in the coming weeks.
Danny Harf would like to thank Monster Energy Drink, Ronix, Nautiques, Fox and TransWorld WAKEBOARDING for their substantial contributions to DEFY.
