Like its direct-drive cousin, the Outback V packs a punch where it needs to — hand-laid fiberglass construction, double tracking fins, a four-blade CNC prop and laminated vinyl seating — and cuts out the extras to reel in the price below $30,000 with trailer included.
For the price, you’re not going to find a better crossover wake for wakeboarding and skiing. More-skilled riders will want the upgraded Gravity III ballast for maximum lift off smooth and well-shaped wakes. For skiing at faster speeds in open water, the wakes will entertain fairly aggressive cuts with minimal kick.
This cozy V-drive in the Moomba lineup is fun to drive. It turns confidently when cutting to the left or right, and for its nimble size, it has respectable handling through adverse conditions.
Moomba cuts back on the small things (no stainless-steel accents on board this boat) to ensure a reasonable price tag, but that doesn’t mean the Outback V is without its touches of comfort.
